ABOUT US:

This year, 2008, sees us celebrating the fifth anniversary of Starlit Farm.  The purchase of the property in 2003 was the culmination of a life-long dream of owning such a property and although that dream was realized, we had a vision of the facility we wished to create.  We’ve come a long way since 2003 and the facility is certainly much improved since those very early days of our ownership.

Many of our original boarders are still with us, attesting to the fact that we’ve created a warm, friendly environment all the while ensuring that the care of their horses has been top-notch.  We’ve made numerous improvements to the facility that has ensured the safety of the horses and the comfort of the horse owners.  We’ve drawn on our many years of experience as owners, riders and competitors in order to create a haven for those who’ve selected our facility as their “home away from home”. 

In 2005 we offered our first Schooling Show as part of the Ottawa West Dressage Days and utilized the 100’ x 200’ sand ring as our show ring.  The following Spring we began construction of our first competition dressage ring and held our (by then) annual Schooling Show in that ring.  In 2007 we added a 2^nd competition sized ring, a Trillium show (in addition to our primary show) and completed the landscaping around our first show ring.  The result has been our ability to offer exhibitor-friendly shows at a premier facility.  This year we’ll complete the work on our 2^nd ring and offer an AHA Class A All-Arabian Sport Horse show (a qualifier for the Region 18 Championships and the Arabian and Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian National Championship shows).  This Sport Horse show will be the first of its kind offered east of the Toronto area and we are looking forward to creating an annual event to showcase the Arabian breeds. In addition to our Silver dressage show, we take pride in the fact that we have been selected to hold the 2008 Silver Championship Show and look forward to hosting this prestigious event in September.

The pride we take in the ownership of Starlit Farm is evident from the moment you turn into our driveway.  Our many years of experience in the equine industry are evidenced by the priority we placed on the necessary renovations to the property and by the excellent standard of care we have insisted upon for each of our clients’ horses.  We began with the very basics of safe fencing and proper shelters in the paddocks, to the addition of a large fenced sand ring and a 60’ round pen (also with excellent sand footing) and then we began to improve or add features that would ensure the comfort of both horse & rider. 

At first glance, it might appear that we are geared primarily to the dressage enthusiast, we welcome ALL riders and their horses, regardless of their chosen discipline.  Our own competitive record demonstrates the exceptional care and depth of experience provided by Starlit Farm, as we've been successful at the Silver level as well as receiving a Top 10 placing at the Canadian Arabian and Half-Arabian National Championship Show in Regina in 2007.  We're able to provide a top level of care for the pleasure horse or the international competitor.
